Our Favourite Things To Do

Airplane Tours: Niagara Air Tours from Niagara District Airport at 905-688-9000.

Airplanes to Toronto: Fly GTA Airlines provides daily service between Niagara-on-the-Lake and Toronto's Billy Bishop airport.

Antiques: The Refuge Antiques at the Village on Niagara Stone Rd.; Lakeshore Antiques 855 Lakeshore Rd., a multi-dealer co-op. In Jordan there are 2 or 3 places on the Main Street.

Art Galleries: Viewing at the Riverbrink Gallery in Queenston (905-262-4510, Wed.-Sat. 11-5, Sun. 1-5); The Pumphouse, 247 Ricardo, workspace and gallery for amateur local artists with a rotating display (905-468-5455); Visit Doug Forsyth Gallery on Queen St, Angie Strauss (905-468-2255) or Trisha Romance (905-468-4431). The Albright-Knox in Buffalo is a world class Museum featuring Impressionist and modern collections at 716-882-8700, Tues.-Sat, 11-5, Sun., 12-5).

Bicycle/Scooter Rentals: Zoom Leisure (1-866-811-6993) offers bicycle tours and rentals from April through October. We also have 4 bikes that we can lend you. Or try eSkoot Niagara (289-271-0663) offering scooter rentals from April 15 until November 15.

Butterfly Conservatory: On the Parkway between Queenston & Niagara Falls.

Carriage Rides: Old Town Tours are available from Sentineal Carriages at 905-468-4943. Leave from Prince of Wales or arrange pick up at Lakewinds.

Casino Niagara: Open 24 hours per day in Niagara Falls. Shuttles 3 times a day from Fort George.

Dining (Light)-Our Favourites: Charles Inn Lounge (5 minute walk), Garrison House (6 minute drive), Olde Winery (5 minute drive, Epicurean for lunch (7 minute walk), Niagara-on-the-Lake Golf Clubhouse (7 minute walk), Queen's Landing Bar (15 minute walk), Bistro 61 (7 minute walk).

Dining (Fine)-Our Favourites: There are sample menus in the basket in our front foyer. A great web site has lots of info on some of the local restaurants that follow and many more. Horseback Trail Rides: Niagara Riding Stables offers escarpment trail rides at 905-262-5101.

Jet Boats: Whirlpool Jet Boats are wildly exciting, but you will get wet. (905-468-4800).

Limos: Southhampton Limousine at 905-646-3072; Mermaid Limousine(905-357-2400).

Music: Summer music festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Music Niagara features outstanding music in standout settings. Over 30 concerts from mid-July until mid-August with internationally renowned musicians: classical, jazz, and more. Intimate, stunning venues – from historic churches to wine cellars.

Shaw Festival: World-famous, plays from mid-April until the end of November. We love the Shaw and think it offers terrific live theatre. (905-468-2153 or 1-800-511-7429).

Shopping: Many smaller, boutique opportunities along the main street. For a larger experience, head up Niagara Stone Rd to the QEW and experience Canada’s largest outdoor outlet mall, including all the usual suspects and for the guys, Bass Pro.

Wine, Van & Bike Tours: All wineries offer free guided tours. Crush on Niagara Wine Tours (905-562-3373), has escorted wine tours in nice vans. Niagara Wine Tours International (468-1300, 1-800-680-7006, 11a.m and 1:30p.m.) has escorted wine tours in vans. Zoom Leisure (1-866-811-6993) offers bicycle tours from April through October.
